Match Trivia
This match was played at Kinning Park. It was evident very soon that the Rangers would have things very much their own way and there was little brilliant play on either side during any stage of the game. The features of the match were furnished by the goalkeepers. All through the Jamestown goalkeeper had his hands full of work. The ball was continually getting in front of his posts and he had always to be on the alert. But cool and dexterous he was generally equal to the occasion; otherwise the strangers would have fared very much worse than they did. On the other hand and at the other end the goalkeeper for the Rangers had a cold time of it. Anxious for something to do he was occasionally to be found near the centre of the field and most of the time he was enveloped in a Highland clock. Now and then was swinging serenely from the bar across the posts while his friend at the other end of the field was in the thick of the fight straining every nerve to keep his posts clear. Towards the end the Jamestown players made some hot charges into their opponents ground and the goalkeeper had to fling off the Highland cloak but the charges came to nothing and the game closed without the strangers scoring. In the first half the Rangers got one goal and in the second two making the result three to nothing
