Played at Kinning Park on Saturday and resulted in favour of the Rangers by three goals to one. The afternoon was not best that could have been desired. A heavy fog set in which gave Kinning Park rather a dark appearance, but nevertheless the game was very fast and some good play was shown by both teams. The Rangers were represented by a strong team, all the old players being in their laces for the first time since their cup tie with the Queen’s Park. The Portland were not fully represented H Campbell and R Cumming being absentees. During the first quarter the Portland had much the best of the play. Their forwards however lost several good chances through their eagerness. McQuarrie at length would up a brilliant run by passing to Dunlop who scored goal number one. The game was very even. Dunlop however just before half time placed the ball beautifully to McNeil and the latter sent in a shot, which the goalkeeper failed to stop. At change of ends the game became very fast and a combined rush by the Portland in which Vallance, Harrison and Campbell were conspicuous, lowered the colours of the Rangers. The Rangers soon after scored another goal, McNeil taking the ball up in splendid style and Christie placed it between the posts.
