Match Trivia
This match was played on the grounds of the Rangers at Kinning Park in presence of a large turnout of spectators. The Rangers who kicked off at once began what turned out to be a very tough fight by a well-concerted attack on the visitor’s goal, which was saved, twice in rapid succession by the good defensive play of the keeper Kennedy. All through the first half of the game the Dumbarton team had their hands pretty full in holding their own against the repeated incursions of the Rangers. Once or twice they succeeded by dint of hard playing in getting the leather in front of the home fortress, the keeper of which however had only once to exert himself for its of the two backs A and T Vallance who did some excellent work. At half time neither side had scored. In the second half the Dumbarton players had the best of it for a considerable time. Shortly before time was called the Rangers made the only goal obtained in the match, which thus ended in their favour
