Match Trivia
Played on Kinning Park in presence of about three thousand spectators. The Scotch with the advantage of the wind scored a goal in one minute from the kick off, Hill sending the ball through. A second goal followed as quickly upon the second kick off but so well did the Rovers play afterwards that they were able to keep their charge intact. The other events of importance were a corner for the Rovers and a hand for them near the home goal and two corners for the Rangers but all came to nothing. In the second half the Englishmen at first lay upon the Scotch goal but the pressure was eventually relieved and a ‘hand’ was got near the strangers posts. T Vallance placed the ball too well for it passed through the goal without being touched and went for nothing. It was soon after carried down the field and in seven minutes from kick off in midfield the Rovers scored their first and only goal. Beyond good runs on both sides nothing more was done and the match ended in favour of the Rangers by two goals to one. The sides were evenly balanced. After the game was over the Rangers entertained their opponents at dinner in the Athole Arms Hotel Dundas Street where a most enjoyable evening was spent
