Match Trivia

Played on the ground of the Rangers at Ibrox. There was a meagre attendance of spectators. The Rangers kicked off. A short struggle ensured near the Battlefield goal, followed by a shot from which McKenzie scored for the Rangers. Play for the next ten minutes was confined in the vicinity of the visitor’s goal, but Battlefield broke away and would have scored but the ball went too high. The Rangers returned however, and some exciting play was witnessed at their opponent’s goal, and three times the home team lost a chance of scoring. A smart run down the field by the Rangers forwards went for nothing. The game was partially in the Rangers right wing, where some exciting passages were witnessed. The ball was gradually worked clear, and a shot for goal resulted in a corner, which was ineffective, the ball being too high. The Rangers shooting was very high otherwise their scoring would have been considerably higher. Robin of the Rangers availed himself of a splendid chance and registered a gaol for his team. This was repeated again by the same player. Another by Fraser then followed. The result at halftime was – Rangers 4 Battlefield 0. On the change of ends the Rangers continued pressing, and during the whole of the second half kept their opponenets well within the centre line. The game was for some time confined to the left of the visitor’s goal from which splendid shot was delivered, but it grazed the post. Another shot resulted in a corner, which however went by. The game proceeded very slowly till within 15 minutes from time, when the sun broke out in the faces of the Rangers. Despite this fact the home team scored a goal. This put some life into the game, and the Battlefield for the first time in the second half, got down to their opponents goal, where they secured a corner, which however was fruitless. The visitors once or twice visited the Rangers territory, but made nothing of it. The result at the call of time was – Rangers 5 goals Battlefield 0
