Match Trivia
Played at West Craigie, Dundee, before 4,000 spectators. The visitors had the incline against them in the first half, but a pretty stiff breeze was at their back. For a considerable time their play was rather slack and lacking in combination, while the Boys on the other hand were working with energy and success. At length Evans from a corner kick centred the ball beautifully and Milne headed the first goal for the Boys. The Rangers now shown improved form and attacked the north goal. After five minutes more play Heggie had a free kick 20 yards from the enemys goal and the ball touching one of the players in its course and going through, the scores were equalised. Some smart assaults were afterwards made on both goals and two or three corners fell to each side, but the register showed no change at the cross over. The strangers now playing down hill began with great dash. After five minutes had gone McKenzie managed to evade Johnston and shortly afterwards two other goals were scored by Sommerville. Our Boys mean while made some unaccountable misses, but near the close Chalmers after repelling two warm shots in close succession was completely beaten by Stewart. The game thus ended in a win for the light blues by four goals to two.
