Match Trivia
Played at Alexandra. It lacked to a great extent however the nice points of the game so prominently brought out on the previous Saturday with the Queen’s Park. The strangers wanted the services of T Vallance and Gillespie their place being ably filled by Devlin and Watt respectively. From the home team were absent A McIntyre and McLintock the former having accidentally trampled on the ball the previous Saturday thereby receiving a severe twist on the right side. McPherson kicked off against a stiff breeze. Several miss kicks by both teams occurred. By degree the ball was brought to the Vale goal, which had a narrow escape the goalkeeper having gone out and missed the ball. A brilliant run was effected by McPherson, Baird and Logan the latter eluding the backs and scoring the first goal in two minutes. Baird scored the second success out of a short scrimmage in five minutes from the last. Struthers, Steel and Hill were now conspicuous with a magnificent run finishing up with a cleverly taken goal. Half time arrived without further scoring. The second half commenced with renewed dash and the excitement was most intense from the fastness of the game. When fifteen minutes had been played the Rangers centres had a good run and passing the backs Steel equalised the game for his team. Five minutes later Paton scored the third goal for the Vale. Time arrived without further scoring leaving the Vale victorious by three goals to two
