Match Trivia

At Cathkin Park, Glasgow estimated attendance 11,000 drawings (gate and stands) £264. Within tow minutes of the start each goalkeeper had saved once, and the early sharp shooting was well maintained throughout the game. Ten minutes after the opening Johnstone was carried off injured, the Third Lanark having to play 10 men thereafter. Brownlie had more work than Rennie, May testing him thrice with fine shots. Shortly before halftime a penalty kick was granted against Rangers, and Ferguson scored. Gordon in the opening minute of the second half shot into Brownlie and generally Rangers had more of the aggressive play. They changed their front line, Bennett going centre and Reid, who was lame outside right, but the Third although handicapped by the absence of Johnstone, managed to holdout, and thoroughly deserved their win
