At Cathkin last night Rangers took round half an hour to settle Third Lanarks Glasgow Cup fate. Within that period the Light Blues put on three goals, but long before the third score it was obvious that the game would develop a one-way traffic aspect. Gillick led a clever forward line which seemed to have too many tricks in the bag for Cunningham and his mates, who included Rennie the Dundee back, who was signed yesterday in a hurry. McPherson started the scoring in fifteen minutes. Taking a long pass from Hamilton he was tackled by Cunningham, whom he charged to the grass before shooting a low angular shot. Twelve minutes later Marshall drove hard from 18 yards. McAffrey was well set for it, but the ball struck Cunninghams head and was defected past the goalkeeper. Seven minutes from the interval, Hamilton scored a booby-dazzler, beating Black and shooting on the turn from 15 yards. Between the second and third goals Rangers were awarded a penalty, but Shaw drove wildly past. Rangers scored immediately on resuming through Johnstone. Third replied with a goal by Jones, who drove home a rebound from Dawson. After that it was nearly all Rangers until 12 minutes from the end when Thirds scored through a penalty kick by Jones. In the last minute McPherson found himself clean through to plant the ball into an empty goal. Shaw missed 29th minute penalty
