Played on Cathkin Park before about 16,000 spectators. In the first half the play was very fast and always interesting, the Third Lanark putting the some fine pressure and shooting with deadly precision, but they failed to score. Kyle scored from a penalty given against McGhie for handling, and shortly after Law added a second from a centre by Dickie. The home defence were kept very busy for most of the first half, but no other goals were added. Interval score – Rangers 2: Third Lanark 0. The second half saw a great improvement in the methods of the home team, and time after time they were down in a body on the opposing defence, but all their efforts to score were unavailing. A grand bit of work by Law near the close almost brought the Rangers another goal, just missing by inches. Result – Rangers 2: Third Lanark 0
