Spectators were very numerous at the match between the 3rd Lanark and Rangers at Cathkin Park. The game was commenced by Hunter kicking off and during the first half both teams made several capital runs. For the most part the play was of the give and take order, and the first portion finished without either side having an advantage. At the outset of the second half the Rangers pressed hard upon their opponents and in a sort of scrimmage arising out of a corner kick, they secured the first goal. Scarcely had the ball been set a rolling when the Volunteers had the ball between the Rangers posts and shortly afterwards they repeated the effort. Neither was able to score further and the contest was thus a victory for the 3rd Lanark
