Match Trivia
Played at Burnbank and after a hard game resulted in a draw, each club securing a goal. The Volunteers kicked off against the wind, but the ball being returned by the opposing backs, the strangers made it very hot for them for a while, and in twenty fives minutes after starting a good shot from the foot of Dunlop forced the goal of the home team; however, maters were equalised in about ten minutes by McKay, who scored a goal from a fine run. When half time was called the ball was in the centre of the field. It was now thought that the Volunteers would have been able to score seeing they had the wind in their favour, but the splendid back play of Vallance and Gillespie frustrated all their efforts. The game became now very fast, runs being made up and down the field in quick succession, each team striving to become the victor. There was a marked improvement in the forward play of the Volunteers and Rowan at back and McFadyen half back did splendid service
