Match Trivia
This important fixture was played at Paisley on Saturday, and though the afternoon was cold and dull there was a good attendance of spectators. Moffat sent off for St Mirren, in the opening movements play was pretty much in favour of the home team, whose forwards being very strongly, drew a great deal of defensive work on the Rangers back division. But the shooting of the home men was very imperfect, Lindsay accepted, and on account of their bad shooting numerous chances were spoiled. Hamilton changed the run of the game. Play then opened out, and the one team right up to the interval had as much of the game as the other. At the interval there was no scoring. Referee Black, as the afternoon was very dull did not allow the teams to leave the field. On resuming the Rangers went off with a rush. They were promptly in front of Rae, Gibson next gave Smith a capital chance, and Smith drove clean into the net. Following this the Rangers had for fully ten minutes, attacked Rae charge, but Jackson and Cameron playing a cool steady game held them in check. St Mirren subsequently swarmed in front of Dickie, but there was no getting the better of him. Up till the finish there was not a dull moment, and the call of time found the St Mirren in front of the Rangers goal. Result – Rangers 1 goal: St Mirren 0. The gate was £150 and the stands £20, a total of £170
