Match Trivia

Third Lanark’s win in the Glasgow League at Ibrox on Wednesday was altogether due to their effectiveness near goal, as throughout the Rangers did most of the aggressive work, particularly in the closing stages, when, standing two goals down, they made strong effort to retrieve their position. This however, they were unable to do, owing to the steadiness of the visiting backs, and the smart saving of Needham on several occasions. Although the play generally did not reach a high standard, some fine work was accomplished on both sides. Alex Smith was in his best form, and was ever dangerous, being the most prominent players on the home side. For the Third Lanark, Barr and Kelso were safe, while in defensive and offensive work the Third Lanark middle division were superior to the Rangers’ trio, McGrain was the best of the forwards
