Played at Ibrox, before about 3000 spectators, the ground was in very good conditions after the recent rains, and provided a good footing for a fast game. The Saints won the toss, and elected to play against the wind. The ground team began in a promising manner, their forwards playing a neat, close passing game, and shooting for goal smartly and frequent. All their efforts to beat Wilkie, the Saints goalkeeper were in vain, and not even from a penalty could they get the desired goal. The Saints were seldom across the midfield in the first half, but when they did get across their movements were definite and powerful, and Turner opened the scoring for them. Up till halftime the Rangers in a somewhat disorganised attack, tried to get the equaliser, but in vein. Halftime result – St Bernards 1: Rangers 0. The second half was very fast, and for sometime the Saints looked all over winners, but after fifteen minutes play Hamilton had a splendid run down the centre and equalised. The Saints quickly took the lead again, Cameron beating Dickie close in from a mistake by Crawford. From this point right on to the end the Rangers had all the better of the play, and their forwards changing their tactics somewhat quickly set the issue beyond doubt, Campbell in scoring four goal at regular intervals.
