Match Trivia

There would be about 5000 spectators present at Ibrox Park on Saturday to witness this friendly match. There was a strong breeze blowing from goal to goal, and the Rangers played with it in the first half. In the opening stages the Rangers boom left the Queen’s goal, and after Hamilton had missed a very east chance, he licked up a pass from Miller and shot a grand goal. The Queen’s forwards gradually made headway, and McColl neatly beat Yuille with a fast cross shot. Shortly after the Queen’s centre ran right through the defence and equalised, while a good goal from W Stewart was disallowed by the referee, whose decisions were rather queer. The teams crossed over, 1 goal each. The second half was about 15 minutes gone ere the Queen’s scored again, Wilson this time being the operator, and although the visiting team had most of the play after this, they failed to again beat Yuille, the game ending – Queen’s Park 2 goals: Rangers 1 goal.
