At Ibrox Park, the Rangers had a friendly visit from the Port Glasgow Athletic. The Port kicked off, and keeping in a continual pressure, Pringle for the Rangers put on the first goal before the game was five minutes old. Shortly after this Fraser, by some clever dribbling scored the second point of the Rangers. From a foul clean in front of the strangers posts, the home men had a grand opportunity to add to their score, but through careless shooting the ball was sent wide of the posts. Ths strangers had made a smart run, bet were unable to get past the backs, Gow returning the ball in fine style. Fraser took up the running, sent in a nice shot, and Pringle rushing up headed it through. From a foul given against the Rangers the Port took the advantage, but after keeping up a nice passing play, the ball was sent past. No more scoring took place and when haltime was called the game stood – Rangers 3 goals Port Glasgow 0 goals. In the second half the Rangers started the ball, and although the Port worked very hard they seldom got the ball past the centre. The Rangers sent in two shots in succession but owing to the great play of Vincent, the goalkeeper there were without success. The ball as now transferred to the other end but was quickly returned, D Gow doing a beautiful run the length of the field. The home team still playing the better game, kept hovering round the Port goal, and Pringle on the left scored another point. Again the Rangers had the play to themselves, and coming away put a combined rush, Fraser sent in a capital shot which took effect. Two corners fell to the home team in succession, but the first was sent wide and the second McKenzie headed over the bar. Some even play took place in midfield, and D Gow running away with the ball scored in fine style. No more scoting took place and when the whistle blew calling time, the game stood Rangers 5 goals; Port Glasgow 0 goals
