Played at Kinning Park in presence of a fair turnout of spectators. The Rangers loss the toss and played with the sun in their eyes. The Athletics collared the kick-off and immediately assumed the offensive. Twice in the first five minutes Gillespie had to exert himself to keep his goal intact. Gradually however the ‘light blues’ settled down to their work and carried the game into their opponent’s territory. At Half time the score stood Rangers 3 Athletic 0. In the second half the Rangers completely over whelmed their opponents adding another five goals while the Athletics only managed two – one of them being disputed on the ground of off-side. The game thus ended in favour on the Kinning Park men by eight goals to tow. For the winners Inglis, McGregor and Hamilton in front and all the back division played well while for the Athletics Shaw, Gray (who is inclined to lie off-side) and J Holms were most prominent. Both clubs were fully represented
