Match Trivia

These teams met at Ibrox Park before an assemblage of 2000, and played off a friendly fixture. The wind was very high, and rain falling shortly before the start made the ground slippery for the players. Rangers winning the toss, kicked off against the wind, and carried the ball immediately up to the stranger’s goal, but the defenders were on the alert and saved splendidly. A corner succeeded in favour of Thistle, but nothing came of it. Marshall came away on the right, and Henderson following up, passed over to Mathieson, but Kerr missed his shot. Henderson again came away in splendid style, and Law meeting his pass, carried the ball against the Thistle custodian, and scored the first point amidst intense cheering. Shortly before halftime Thistle equalised. The second half was stiffly contested, but the Rangers scored twice, and won by 3 goals to.
