Played on the ground of the former, Kinning Park, and resulted in favour of Rangers by 8 goals to 1. The home team lost the toss and had to play against the wind, and although they wanted the able services of Vallance (captain) and Watson managed to score four times in the first half. Just two minutes before haft time, the Partick team came away with a rash, which took the Rangers by surprise and out of a scrimmage they managed to score, but success did not follow them. For after the change of ends Rangers playing in their usual brilliant style, laid siege to their opponents fortress, and gave them plenty to do. Being in fact successful in lowering the colours of the strangers another four times before the close of the game – thus making a total of eight goals. Campbell (back) for the Partick played well, and Struthers (forward). One and all of the Rangers played well, R Kerr (back) and Wm. Primrose (forward) filled the places of Vallance and James Watson most creditable
