Match Trivia

Played at Ibrox Park under most depressing conditions before 4000 spectators. Morton kicked off, and at once got down to Sinclair’s goal, which almost fell to a long shot from Eadie. Shaw and Spiers carried the ball to the other end, where the former had the misfortune to strike the upright with a fast shot. The home forwards plied Robertson with all kinds of shots in vain, and at length from a breakaway Walker scored for Morton. The same player should have added a second directly afterwards, and Kyle was equally at fault when favourably placed. Haltime – Morton 1 goal: Rangers 0 goals. The Greenock team played splendidly after the interval, and after sustained pressure Grieve scored a second goal. Near the end the home forwards showed a glimpse of their ordinary form, and Hamilton scored for them five minutes from the close. The Morton defence prevailed in the closing minutes, and a fairly interesting game ended – Morton 2 goals: Rangers 1 goal
