The opening match was played at Ibrox Park, Govan last night before 2000 spectators. The Linthouse kicked off. The Rangers score within three minutes by McPherson. Even play followed till shortly before crossing over, when the ball went through the Linthouse goal off one of there own backs. Halftime result Rangers 2 goals: Linthouse 0 goals. The second half was hotly contested, the Linthouse making a much better show with the breeze at their backs. They failed when near goal however. The Rangers especially McPherson, who added another two goals to their total, played well, but they lacked cohesion in the front division. Final result Rangers 4 goals: Linthouse 0 goals.
