Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox ark, Govan before 1000 spectators. But for the disagreeable weather the crowd would probably have been much larger as considerable interest was taken in the game. Losing the toss the Linthouse kicked off against the wind and rain. For several minutes play was of a give and take nature, each end being assailed in turn. Ultimately however the Rangers from a pass by McInnes, McPherson scored the first goal, and soon had a second goal to their credit, Barker doing the needful. The Linthouse next had a look in, but their visit to Haddow was of a short duration. By a combined run the Rangers again got within shooting distance, and from a good try by Bruce they obtained a third goal, the ball going through off Cameron. The Linthouse played up pluckily after this additional reverse, but they could not break down the able defence of the Rangers. J Steel had a try, which nearly had the desired effect, but Haddow managed to clear his lines. Rain was now falling in torrents, which considerably hampered the movements of the players. From a severe pressure at the Linthouse goal Marshall cleverly place the ball through, thus making the fourth point for the Rangers. The whistle sounded shortly after. Halftime result – Rangers 4 goals: Linthouse 0 goals. After a short interval the game was resumed with vigour. Aided by the wind the Linthouse improved their position, and the game ended Rangers 5 goals: Linthouse 2 goals. 9
