Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox Park, before about 4000 spectators. Rangers had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half and Smith scored after 15 minutes play. Busby twisted his knee shortly after, and had to be assisted off. Rangers ere the interval adding other three goals – Hamilton one, and Walker two. Score at interval – Rangers 4: Kilmarnock 0. The second half was a very one-sided affair, as Rangers were able to do pretty much as they liked with their opponents, who were feeling the handicap of Busby’s absence very much, but the only goal scored was by MacDonald after some clever work by Hamilton and Smith. Play was mostly in the region of Kilmarnock’s goal, but there were no further attempts of a serious nature to get goals. Result – Rangers 5: Kilmarnock 0.
