Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox Park last night before about 4000 spectators. Rangers kicked off against a slight wind, and immediately carried the ball into their opponent’s quarters, Miller and Campbell working well together. Early in the game it was evident that Glen meant to demonstrate to hid old masters that he is no back number, and for a time he held the Rangers right pair pretty safe. Hamilton in centre worked very hard, and after a quarter of an hour’s play he opened the scoring with a swift low shot. The Hibs tried hard to equalise, but though their play in the open was very judicious they showed a great weakness in front of goal, and Dickie’s position was somewhat of a sinecure, as Drummond and N Smith kept them easily at bay. All over the first half the home team had the better of the exchanges, but halftime came without any further scoring. Rangers 1 goal: Hibs 0. The Rangers rearranged their front line in the second half, Campbell and Wilkie constituting the right wing and Miller partnering Smith on the left. The change worked all right. A clever bit of individual work by Campbell brought the Rangers their second and last goal, his centre being smartly netted by Hamilton close in. Up to the close the game was well contested, but no further scoring took place. Result – Rangers 2 goals: Hibs 0
