Match Trivia
Before fully 6000 spectators these teams met, under the auspices of the Scottish League at Ibrox. Prompt to time the Rangers kicked off, and made but little headway owing to the splendid defence of the opposing back division. With the aid of the wind the Thistle made a most flattering appearance for some time. Gradually the superior ability of the ground team asserted itself, and ere halftime the Thistle were in the minority to the extent of four goals, two of which were scored by Hamilton, and one each by Miller and Sharp. The second half was for a few minutes entirely in favour of the visitors, who almost scored in the first minute. The Rangers however soon settled down, and despite the Thistle were soon six goals to the bad. Hamilton and Miller again having point to their credit. Following a spell of trick football by the Rangers, Lindsay dashed off and scored. A second goal, close on time, was scored by Currie. The game was extremely one-sided and saves for about 20 minutes in the first half, was almost wholly in favour of the Rangers, who played well. The visitors gave a most disappointing exhibition, and must improve considerably if they wish to take a good position in the First League. Result – Rangers 6 goals: Partick Thistle 2 goals.
