Losing the toss, the Hibernian kicked off. They were first to press, but Robertson returned. Clever work by Martin transferred play to the Rangers end, where Smith had a try, but W Gibson got the ball away. Then the Rangers had a free kick, which W Gibson took. He placed the ball beautifully, and landed it in the net, but as no one had touched it the point went for nothing. The Rangers kept up the pressure, and Barker had a try, which Donnelly in self-defence threw behind. The corner came to nothing. McCreadie scored the first goal for the Rangers, who led by 3 to 1 at halftime. The Rangers had all the best of the second half, and adding three more goals, won by 6 to 1
