Match Trivia
For more than half game the Accies put up a great fight at Ibrox. When Cunningham found the net, the Govanites were on velvet. The Accies of necessity had to recast their attack, Thornley being injured, and Hannah, the latest signed, being on the same list. Cunninghams goal getting and Whites brilliancy were features in a hard game, in which the Rangers, always the superior lot, were well pushed. Early on Patersons picture pas found Archibald making a bloomer of a cert chance. A back header from Muirhead, and then a flashing shot from Cunningham, was well held by White, and all over the first half Rangers were top dog in a vain endeavour to outwit a tenacious Lanarkshire defence. The Accies had their chances, and called the closest shave when Rowan too the woodwork. First half honours lay with the Lanark boys. It took Rangers eighteen minutes to take the lead. A Hamilton defender erred, Andy slipped in, and White had no chance. The same player came again, and improved on Patersons cleverness. The goalie took the full force of the ball, but was unable to prevent a net finder. Archibald supplemented from a difficult angle, and Rowan beat Lock. Muirhead finished the score sheet with a cut in twixt back and goalkeeper, and made no mistake, and Rangers finally won looking round. The Light Blues gave glimpses of fine football, but off and on they were none too convincing at scoring chances. Lock, Gordon, Dixon, Cunningham and Muirhead were the shinning lights. For Hamilton, White was great in goal, miller at back and Nimmo at half were particularly successful. Corcoran was the best forward, and Rowan was always a trier and a good one
