Match Trivia
Over 9000 spectators attended this match at Ibrox Park. Dundee won the toss and elected to defend the town goal. The opening exchanges were fairly even, but gradually the Rangers asserted themselves, and Mackie beat Muir very easily. Shortly afterwards Dundee equalised, but it was very lucky Lennie sending in a shot which Fraser spooned into his own goal. Honours for a time were about equal, but the Rangers again running in Walker scored from a pass by Henderson, and the Rangers led at the interval by 2 to 1. On crossing over the Light Blues very soon asserted their superiority, Mackie sending in a shot which Muir dialled with, and Henderson rushing in had no difficulty in scoring. Gibson was the Rangers most aggressive forward in the first half, but Walker now came prominently to the front, and by dashing clever play again beat Muir, who was given no chance. The Rangers were certainly playing by far the best game, being much smarter on the ball, whilst their passing was altogether cleaner and better timed than that of their opponents. Offside against Hamilton spoiled a likely chance, but Gibson soon got in and scored the ball going through off Jeffrey. Dundee were by no means idle, but the home defence was not to be beat, and all their efforts went for naught. Another goal fell to the Rangers through Hamilton from good work by Mackie. The gate amounted to £235 9s ; stand £25.13s 6d, making a total of £252 2s 6d. Result – Rangers 6 goals: Dundee 1
