and Lindsay kicked off for the Dumbarton Athletic. At the commencement of the game the Rangers lost two opportunities to score, and McLelland sent in a fine shot, which, however was averted by the custodian. A fine run was afterwards taken by Lindsay, but no advantage was gained by it. Soon after the Rangers got two corners, but no scoring yet occurred. Several corners followed but still the Rangers could not fine an opportunity to score. The Dumbarton Athletic now showed some good play, and Nicol used his hands for the first time in the game. Latta had a fine shot which was unsuccessful. Halftime was called, no goals having been scored. On play being resumed the Athletic worked with increased vigour. Latts got the ball from a goal kick, and sent in a shot, which was narrowly averted by the goalkeeper, and before he could send it out of his citadel it was driven through by one of the Athletics. For sometime the strangers pressed. Ultimately J Gow got the ball and ran with it midfield, but it was recovered, and the Dumbarton Athletic again pressed and got two corners in succession, but nothing came of them. Soon the ball was driven into the Athletics territory; and a goal ensured for the Rangers by a header from Hotson. For some time the Rangers were pressed by the visitors, but the goalkeeping of Nicol was splendid. Latts had a run, which was unsuccessful, and time was called not very long after, thus leaving the game drawn
