Match Trivia
These clubs met at Kinning Park and despite the rain there was a very fair turnout of spectators. From the start it became apparent that the Clyde were in for a severe drubbing as the first goal soon scored against them by a clever run on the art of the Rangers forwards headed by Steel and Struthers and at the call of half time the home eleven had registered five goals. In the second round the Clyde stood their ground well for a time and fought gamely but they were unable to withstand the splendid combined play of their opponents, who did pretty much as they liked. In the latter part scoring became frequent on the Rangers side when the game ended they were hailed the winners by eleven goals to none. The brothers Vallance were in capital form the elder kicking with remarkable precision and Drinnan was also at his best. Amongst the forwards the smart dribbling and dodging of the whole six was a treat to see. On the side of the defeated team the back and half back showed any amount of pluck, but they were deficient in tackling and too often left their goal unguarded. Good runs were made at times by two of the forwards, but they attempted to stick to the ball instead of passing to a companion, which was the proper play and lost rare chances to score
