Match Trivia

This League match was played yesterday at Ibrox Park, Glasgow, before 15,000 spectators. The gate money amounted to £315, while £52 were taken at the stands. A stiff breeze was blowing and this affected the play considerably. In the first half Rangers had the benefit of the wind, and had almost all the play. Gilchrist opened the scoring for them and McPherson followed with a second. On till the interval the Rangers held the upper hand. With the aid of the wind in the second half the Clyde practically monopolised the play, and first Spiers and then Chalmers scored for them. Fifteen minutes from the finish Chalmers scored a third goal, but it was adjudged offside. Near the close both goals had narrow escapes though Clyde were always the more dangerous side. The final result was – Rangers 2: Clyde 2
