Match Trivia
Fully 30,000 spectators patronised this match at Ibrox Park. The ground was somewhat treacherous; still an excellent display was give by both teams. The Rangers were the first to settle down, May, Kyle and Smith leading in several brilliant attacks on Adam’s goal. Good defensive play by Orr and Campbell, the former especially prevented Adams being seriously tested. As the result of some fine forward play by the left wing Kyle worked himself into a favourable position and scored. The Celts were not long in equalising. Some scraggy play took place around Sinclair’s goal, and Somers sent the ball between the posts when Sinclair was out from his goal. Halftime – 1 goal each. The pace in the second half was if anything faster than in the first. The Celts played brilliantly in the open for fully 15 minutes, but were weak at goal. The home team again settle down, and after an exhibition of clever forward work by Kyle and Smith, who were admirably fed by May, Shaw scored. A few minutes later Orr equalised from a penalty. The Rangers still displaying clever tactics wore down the visitors defence, and May won the game for the Rangers one minute from time with a brilliant shot. Result – Rangers 3 goals: Celtic 2 goals.
