Match Trivia
The visit of the Rangers to Brockville Park, Falkirk proved a great attraction, notwithstanding the wet weather that prevailed fully 6000 spectators being present, a considerable number of whom travelled per special train from Glasgow. The visitors had the best of the play, but failed to score until the first half was well advanced; some clever work by Smith resulting in Ruddiman netting the left-winger’s pass. Falkirk played hard to secure the equaliser before the interval, but in this they failed. Halftime – Rangers 1: Falkirk 0. The second half was barely five minutes old when from a cross pass from Shaw, Ruddiman headed a second goal. Two minutes later May had a clever run on his own account round a number of the Falkirk defenders, and he safely landed the ball in the net a third time. The Rangers centre was brought down inside the penalty line, and from the penalty kick, Kyle scored fourth goal. Falkirk kept plodding away, but the Rangers kept the upper hand, Shaw scored a fifth goal from a pass by Smith. Ten minutes from the finish in the midst of a break attack on the Rangers goal, Campbell scored a well-deserved goal for Falkirk; while just before the whistle blew Ruddiman and Spiers between them rushed through a sixth goal for the Rangers. Result – Rangers 6 goals: Falkirk 1. Gate drawings £151; stands £15
