Match Trivia

Played on Ibrox Park before 4000 spectators. The game in the first half was well contested, both sets of forwards being very smart, but although the Airdrieonians shot oftener and better than their opponents, the Rangers were the first to score, Speedie beating Duncan with a header from a corner kick. Halftime – Rangers 1: Airdrieonians 0. The visitors fell away greatly in the second half, and for the greater part of the game they wee kept on the defensive, their forwards being unable to make any headway against the Rangers defence. Hamilton, Kyle and Mackie added goals, and after that the Airdrieonians improved wonderfully, and Sinclair’s goal was well tested. From a penalty given against Robertson the visitors scored. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Airdrieonians 1. The money drawn at the gate amounted to £100, and at the stands £38
