Match Trivia

Played at Hampden Park before about 12,000 spectators and in delightful weather. The Rangers assumed the aggressive right from the start, and but for execrable shooting should have scored early as the Queen’s defence was to the shaky side. Some smart work by MacDonald was ably capped by Mackie who scored close in. Shortly after Hamilton broke through by himself and beating all opposition scored the second goal. The second half was fought out on more even line, but unfortunately it was marred by severely nasty accidents to players, Hamilton being so badly injured that he had to be carried off the field. Both sides struggled hard to the close, but though both Dickie and McNair were severely tested no further scoring took place. Result – Rangers 2: Queen’s Park 0. The money drawn at the gates amounted to £275 and the stands £25
