Match Trivia

Played at Ibrox before about 6000 spectators. Rangers opened strongly, and Fraser opened the scoring after about two minutes play with a lovely shot. Morton pressed hotly after the reverse and for a time it looked odds on them equalising, but the Rangers defended strongly. Fine work by Hamilton brought about the second goal; the home centre beating all opposition and scoring with a shot which Bryce had no chance of saving. The Rangers had the better of the exchanges towards the interval, and MacDonald added a third point. At halftime the Rangers led by 3 goals to nil. The second half was evenly contested all through, Rangers adding a fourth goal through Alick Smith, while Roberts registered a clever goal for Morton. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Morton 1 goal. The gate and stands amounted to £148.
