Match Trivia

These teams met at Clune Park, Port Glasgow last night in a benefit match on behalf of Mr Thomas Williams of the local club, who has been invalided for a long time. There was quite 2500 spectators present. For the first twenty minutes or so the game was of an even description, but if anything the ground club had slightly the pull. Carrying operations well into the vicinity of Dickie, the local forwards caused the Rangers defence some annoyance, and after saving grandly for a time, Dickie was at long last defeated by Black. The interval arrived without any further scoring. Shortly after play was resumed Robertson secured the equaliser for the Rangers, who now had a larger share of the play. The Port was granted a penalty, but Craig was not successful in his endeavour to convert. Craig missed a penalty
