Played at Meadowside before about 4000 spectators. The Rangers had all the best of the play in the opening stages, Hamilton and McPherson scoring. The Thistle wanted badly in combination, but their forwards played with plenty of dash individually, and from a centre Watson scored. Again the Rangers pressed hard, and McPherson and then Hamilton added to their score, and just before halftime Paul broke away Kirkland being given a rare chance, which he converted. Halftime – Rangers 4: Thistle 2. On resuming the Rangers settled down to a much better game than they had played in the first half, and after several unsuccessful tried at goal Hamilton beat Spence, and Campbell shortly after by a splendid individual effort beat all opposition and scored the sixth goal. The home team were now completely settled, and the Rangers did with them pretty much as they liked, and McPherson and Campbell added other two goals. Near the finish the Thistle worked hard, but could not score. Result – Rangers 8: Partick Thistle 2
