Match Trivia
Played at Meadowside before upwards of 10,000 spectators. The ground was fairly good, but not at all adapted to close passing, and play at the outset was not at all accurate. The Rangers had the better of the exchanges, but their shooting was most erratic, and it was not till after 5 minutes play that Hamilton could find an opening. The Thistle were full of life, and their determination was at length rewarded, the equaliser coming from a corner. Halftime – Thistle 1: Rangers 1. The game in the opening stages of the second half was very stubbornly contested, but after Hamilton scored what looked like an offside goal the Thistle became somewhat disorganised and were not so reliable as formerly. Their defence worked well together, but the Rangers halves had little difficulty in dealing with the efforts of their forwards to break away. Playing a smart confident game the Rangers forwards scored rapidly, McPherson, Wilkie, Graham and Smith added a goal each. Result – Rangers 6: Thistle 1.
