That score suggests a thriller, doesnt? Dont believe it. No sustained collective football to enthuse over; not an individual performance to relieve the monotony. Rangers in low gear after establishing a three-goal lead in ten minutes, Thistle too haphazard to profit from their opponents lethargy. We might have seen Rangers a man short for an hour, but none of the officials apparently saw a Light Blue express himself with his fists. If this could be regarded as Rangers true form, we could expect a break in their league monopoly. When their three goals lead was reduced to one, they found it difficult to snap into the smooth rhythm that characterises their grade A football. So, the final phase was just a scramble. But there were features to please both camps. McGowan can be regarded as a coming full-back. Well-built, quick in recovery, his kicking is beautifully clean and accurate. Duncanson was, I presume, put in as a stop-gap winger, but a stranger would never have thought so. He is a natural player, would perform anywhere. He had behind him the best half afield. He got countless perfect passes from Venters, the games best forward. Henderson, blameless for the goals, had a good game. Alongside his place Curran, A Sharp and W Sharp. Rangers most outstanding performers were Gray, Bolt, Woodburn, Duncanson and Venters.
