Match Trivia
The Glasgow Rangers, holders of the Glasgow Cup, and who head the Scottish League competition, visited the Boys at West Craigie Park on Saturday. As was expected there was a large gate. Our Boys set the ball in motion and after about ten minutes play got well up, and Buttar passed to Malcolm, who draw first blood for the home team. The visitors equalised soon afterwards. Rangers continued to work determinedly, and J McPherson and Proudfoot each found opening. Thomson, George, and Buttar played in excellent combined form, and Haddow was repeatedly called upon to save. Latterly Buttar headed through a second goal for the Boys. Nothing further was done in the first half, which ended in favour of the Rangers by 3 goals to 2. The second period continued as lively as the first, the Boys striving hard to make up their leeway. They were however, unable to more than double their score (C Craig and Buttar each securing a point), a performance also repeated by the Rangers. The game therefore ended Rangers 6: Our Boys 4. During the closing stages of the second half some excitement was caused by J McPherson after the referee had awarded a free kick to the Boys seizing the ball, and refusing to place it on the field until he had been several times reprimanded by the referee.
