Match Trivia
Losing the toss, the Rangers kicked off against the wind. McLardie and Murray got on the ball, but Mitchell spoiled the run. Barker and McPherson next got possession, and Barker tried a shot, but A Cuthbertson again got on the ball, and being pressed in the corner he tipped it back to Mitchell, who centred beautifully. H McCreadie who was lying handy caught the pass and scored. Keeping up the pressure, McLardie equalised with a low raking shot, which Haddow could not get at. From a fine pass by Barker, McCreadie scored a second goal for the Rangers. Returning to the attack, Barker and McPherson carried the ball well into Abercorn territory, and the latter accrued a third goal with a long shot from the corner. Towards the close of the half, the Abercorn put on a spurt, and obtained a brace of corners. From the second of these Bowie scored their second goal with a long shot. Halftime result – Rangers 3 goals: Abercorn 2 goals. The second half was keenly contested, the Abercorn having if anything the best of it. Smith equalised for the Paisley club. Just before the close the Rangers were awarded a penalty kick, when Kerr scored the fourth goal, and the game, which should probably have been a draw, ended – Rangers 4 goals: Abercorn 3 goals.
