Match Trivia

Played at Greenock. The Rangers kicking off, Gossland scored before the game was a couple of minutes old, but within five minutes both Stewart and R Fleming had registered a point for the home team. This was augmented further on by Gillespie, and before halftime Wilson scored very cleverly for the Rangers. In the second portion the visitors were kept well into their own territory, their excursions being few and far between, as well as fruitless in the matter of goals. On the other hand the Morton made a striking impression upon the defence of the Rangers even against exceptionally fine goalkeeping by Ritchie. Coats gained no fewer than three more points for the Morton and McColl another, so that at the finish the score was 7 to 2 in favour of the Morton, all of whom played a capital game. The Rangers never settled down, and their forwards play was of a straggling order.
