Match Trivia

At Greenock, in showery weather. Rangers pressed from the outset, and by clever combination easily eluded the home defenders, who had a good deal of heavy work to get through. Smith opened the scoring, and additional goals were got by Campbell, Gordon and Stark. Morton visits to McArthur’s end were infrequent and when they did get away they failed to make much impression on the visitors defence. A surprise raid, however presented an opening of which Hamilton took advantage the custodian being beaten by a fine shot. Halftime – Rangers 4: Morton 1. In the second half Morton continued to give a disappointing display. The forwards worked fairly well together, but the backs were absolutely unable to make a stand against the methodical tactics of the visitors, whose score was further augmented by McDonald, can Campbell, the latter finding the net twice in succession. Result – Rangers 7: Morton 1. The drawings amounted to £42
