Match Trivia
This first League game was played at Kilmarnock before about 4000 spectators. It was a keen struggle for the first half hour, both sides playing determinedly for the opening goal. Rangers principally through Mackie had the more dangerous tries, but it was Kyle who opened the scoring with a fine effort. At the interval Rangers led by 1 goal to 0. On resuming even play ruled for a time, then Rangers settled and played magnificent football. Kyle got a second point rather smartly and a third was easily scored by Hamilton off a pass from Smith, and in the closing minutes a fourth was secured through Battles missing the ball from a free kick taken by Robertson. Rangers were full value for their victory. Kilmarnock played a hard, plodding game, and missed good chances to score, but in every division Rangers were superior. Gate and stands amounted to £156
