Match Trivia

The first good match of the season in Edinburgh was played on Saturday between the representing the above clubs at Easter Road. The Hibernians kicked off up the hill, and the game at once became fast. From a throw in Preston passed to McGhee who kicked the ball through about five minutes from the start. The kick-off Marshall had a splendid run down the field and being tackled passed the ball to Sommerville, who scored a goal. Open play flowed till close on halftime, when Clarke sent in a low shot, which took effect. Immediately after the changing of ends, the Rangers worked their way up the field and out of a scrimmage Sommerville again equalised the score. The Hibernians shortly afterwards secured a free kick from a foul and the ball was so well placed that Clarke was enabled to score. The match thus ended resulting in favour of the Hibernians by three goals to two
