Played on the ground of the former, and to the astonishment of the spectators the game resulted in a victory for the Govan by five goals to four. After half an hour’s exciting play the first goal was won amid the applause of those present, by Reid for the Govan. But Marshall, for the Rangers soon succeeded in retrieving matters, and by a splendid kick sent the ball flying through the Govan goal. When half time was called both sides were equal. Ends being changed and the ball put in motion, a most exciting contest took place. The fine passing play of the Rangers forwards elicited the commendation of all. The half back play of Drinnan was admirable, Vallance and Gillespie played their usual brilliant style and Cameron for the Govan commended special notice as did Armstrong, who kicked well throughout
