Match Trivia
These teams met on the ground of the former on Wednesday evening last in presence of a large attendance of spectators to play a benefit match in aid of the funds of Grahamston Bowling Club. Just before the game commenced a heavy shower of rain fell, which made the surface of the ground a little insecure for the players retaining their footing. East Stirlingshire won the toss and decided to play with the wind in their favour. The play for a couple of minutes was in E.S. ground, but the right halfback sent the ball wide. Laurie then had a good shot which the goalkeeper managed to get away. Play then continued in midfield for several minutes, when a swift shot by Reid beat the Rangers goalkeeper. The play was mostly all in favour of the home team in the first half Sharp never having to keep out a shot. The second half was started with E.S. in the majority of one goal and immediately Sharp had to fist out a good shot. Play raged backwards and forwards the Rangers however having the best of it till about twenty minutes had been played, when a slow shot went through between Rae and Sharp, both seemingly intending to allow the other to stop it. After the ball had been again started Reid and Laurie both sent in warm shots to the Rangers custodian, but he succeeded in repelling them. No more scoring took place on either side and the game which was of an hour and ten minutes duration resulted in a draw.
