Match Trivia
Everything considered Rangers were a trifle lucky in dividing the points with Dundee on Dens Park. In the first half Sinclair saved miraculously on several occasions, notably when McLuckie shot with great power at close range. The ground was all against the players being very heavy, but despite this handicap the pace was fast – so fast, indeed that in the second half the players showed signs of being fagged. At the interval the scoring sheet was clean. Dundee found the net a few minutes after the restart. McLuckie had the honour, but it was Dainty who led up to the goal with a shot, which rattled the bar. Dainty’s shooting and judicious placing was a feature of the match. Rangers equalised through Kivlichan against whom Dundee alleged an infringement for handling. Mr Riddell of Edinburgh, who was the referee, disallowed the appeal. The game fell away considerably thereafter, and the players no doubt welcomed the conclusion of hostilities. Nine thousands people watched the game, and the total drawings amounted to £208 10s 3d
